App Features
- Retrieve your steps in other activities such as walking or running either directly from Garmin or from several other apps by linking them through Strava
- Monitor your progress on your individual dashboard, overall progress as well as stage-wise completion.
- Check other's progress on the Leaderboard
- Virtually walk ‘In Bapu’s Steps’ by reading historical extracts of the original Dandi Salt March
- Learn about what Bapu ate as meals during the 22 day Dandi Salt March
- Get your e-certificates on completion of each of the 22 stops along the route.
- Get inspired by daily health and motivational quotes.
- Share on social media and other channels about your progress to motivate those around you.
Phones supported
- It is very difficult to make a complete list of all models, but generally, any smartphone that is about 2 -3 years old will work. Which anyway is the average life of most phones these days!
Friendly features
- The app does not need to be running all the time to count your steps.
- Just remember to open the app and sync at least once a day!
- E-Certificates can be downloaded and shared once milestones are achieved.
Installing and validating
- The app is synchronized with your backend data filled at the time of registration.
- If you have recently registered, provide about 2-3 hours for our registration systems to sync with the app.
- For Indian participants- Enter the mobile phone number that you have registered with. You will receive a 4 digit OTP. Enter the OTP and you are through.
- For International participants - Enter your email id that you used for registration with us. Your OTP will come via email to you. Enter the same and you are through.
Permissions Required
- The app will require the following permissions from your phone
- To access Camera and other Sharing options ( for your photo e-certificates )
Recording your steps
Strava App User
- If you are a regular walker or someone new to walking, all you need to do is
- Download and Install the 500K App. Sync Stava with 500K app.
- Remember to carry your mobile around when you go about walking and to start, end, and save an activity on Strava or other apps to record the steps.
- Other apps can also be synced with Strava App.
Google Fit User
- If you are a Google Fit user then it is pretty straightforward. Log in with your Google Fit credentials and authorise the app to receive your activities.Carry out a run or walk activity. Stop and Sync the activity with Google Fit and almost immediately it will show up on our app.
Other Apps Users (any third party or mobile inbuilt app)
- If you use any other personal wearable apps ( like FitBit, GoQii, Timex, Coros etc ) then the way to get your activities into the app is through Strava or manual entry in 500K App.
- Create a Strava account, if you do not have one
- You can also connect your existing technology with Strava, following the respective process steps
- Authorize the 500K Step Challenge app to receive activity details from Strava, by sharing your Strava log-in credentials.
Note:
- The steps from your personal wearables (Google Fit/ Others through Strava) will be synced to the 500K App.
- In both Google Fit / Strava the activity has to be either Walking or Running only
- When you are not in an activity, then the phone will continue to capture your phone steps.
- If you carry your phone and run or walk. Strava will track the data, just remember to start the activity.
Feature Laden App
- Home Tab
- This tab is the landing page of the app. It shows the following information.
- Overall number of steps covered as part of the Challenge and your percentage completion.
- The blue bar increments clockwise to depict your progress
- Other options show your daily step count and the steps remaining for your next stop.
- The ‘Your Activities' option shows the source of the activities from either the phone itself or either Garmin / Strava. Manual entry of steps can also be deposited here
- Progress Tab
- This tab shows the original Dandi Salt March route and steps that were walked so that you can monitor your progress against the original.
- This is also the place from where you can retrieve and share your photo certificates on reaching each stop along the way. Please click on the stop you have arrived at.
- Leaderboard Tab
- The Leaderboard tab, shows your progress and compares it with others and assigns you a rank. Bear in mind that the Leaderboard is updated once every 30 minutes or so.
- Get Inspired Tab
- This the place to go for the following
- Daily health quotes to motivate you.
- Daily quotes from Bapu to Inspire you.
- Relive the original Dandi Salt March by reading extracts from historical accounts of what transpired at each stop
- Occasional content to enhance your participation of the challenge
